Amendments to the DSA of the Committee on Civil Liberties

The European Parliament published at the end of June the amendments to the DSA of the Committee on Civil Liberties (LIBE). Among other things, the committee advocates for (1) the inclusion of search engines, Internet streaming services and messaging services within the scope of the text, (2) guaranteeing the right to anonymity for all on the Internet, as well as the protection of data. Amendment 140 notes that in order to ensure a “safe, predictable and trusted online environment (…) the concept of “illegal content” should underpin the general idea that what is illegal offline should also be illegal online,” which is in line with the Fondation Descartes’ proposals on the subject.
